300 Magazine Street
300 Magazine was constructed prior to 1895 and is located in a historic district called Picayune Place, which is noted for its collection of intact 19th Century commercial building. Albert Architecture was hired to design a complete renovation to include a functional and design-inspired commercial space on the ground floor with seven one and two-bedroom contemporary residential units on the upper three floors.
Preserving the character of this century old commercial building, while providing clean, metropolitan living spaces, provided a unique challenge: combining historic restoration with modern design. Exterior details will be repaired and refinished, while interior spaces will depart from the traditional, with luxurious finishes and modern design sensibilities. It is at once high-end living and boutique commercial, with a respectful nod to the past. Albert Architecture is assisting the owner in applying for both State and Federal Historic Tax Credits, which will play a key role in ensuring the historic integrity of the completed project.
